Judges comment: It works, doesn't it. Wonderful rich colour pallet;that holds the square format composition together. The focus is around the eye, ear tufts and left paw, and from the normal viewing distance that's perfectly acceptable. I do find the large stump a bit too dominant, but of course it does provide context and scale.
